Project

SR 59 Bridge Replacement
RQAW was responsible for the design and project management for the replacement of the structure carrying SR 59 over Little Raccoon Creek. This project replaced the existing twin corrugated metal pipe culverts with a reinforced concrete three-sided structure. The design team minimized project impacts to right-of-way and nearby utilities, resulting in reduced project costs and improved schedule. Upon completion of hydraulic analysis and evaluation of feasible alternatives, a three-sided box structure was chosen as the preferred alternative to minimize construction cost time and cost. RQAW designers focused on reducing traffic impacts and delays along this Section of SR 59, which serves as the main roadway through the town of Waveland, Indiana. RQAW simultaneously completed a small structure replacement on US 136 in Montgomery County, designing and bundling both projects into one construction contract. Our team developed the letting documents package and assisted INDOT in achieving cost savings. The two projects were completed on time and within the allocated budget in 2021.
