Enhancing wastewater treatment efficiency through forward-thinking design
Challenge: The existing positive displacement blowers were nearing the end of their useful life, requiring significant maintenance and inefficiently delivering oxygen to the plant’s aeration tanks.
Solution: RQAW designed this project based on recommendations included in a previously-completed preliminary engineering report (PER). The scope of work included two new 75 HP turbo blowers to support the solids handling process, new automated valves for process isolation, and associated electrical and controls work. In addition, due to safety issues throughout the plant, new walkway grating and handrail along tank walls are being designed to provide a safe working atmosphere for plant operations and maintenance staff. The $750,000 project was funded through OCRA’s Wastewater and Drinking Water grant program, where RQAW helped the City secure $600,000 in grant funds.
