RQAW was tasked to conduct a study for the Knox County Jail and Community Corrections, completed in June 2020, to identify and resolve the facility’s significant space and operational challenges. RQAW is now currently working with the County to design a 60,000-sf addition and renovation to the Knox County Jail facility, which includes the security center, a new housing pod addition designed to accommodate approximately 120 beds (expandable to 250+ beds), and a new Community Corrections facility on the campus. This $34M addition and renovation project will improve the justice system’s security, functionality, and operational efficiency and is scheduled to be complete in Spring 2023.
