SR 234 Bridge Replacement
INDOT Crawfordsville District
RQAW | DCCM led the project development for the SR 234 over Little Raccoon Creek bridge replacement project. Located near
Ladoga, the new bridge structure is a 32 feet by 10 feet threesided concrete box. Because of the project location’s 30-degree skew and a
T-intersection, RQAW | DCCM designed the new box to be 68 feet long to span the SR 234 roadway section and provided a complex grading design to match the southwest wingwall into a new pipe that was installed under the county road. The roadway grade was also raised 9 inches to accommodate a minimum cover over the new box with vertical alignment developed to minimize pavement replacement needs. Though tree cutting was required for the project, the team worked to minimize impacts to the surrounding area and wildlife.
