Improving Roadway Systems Through Accurate Surveys: 281st Street Road Rehabilitation

RQAW | DCCM was selected to design the 281st Street rehabilitation project, spanning from SR 19 to Rulan Road in Hamilton County due to the two-lane major collector roadway experiencing significant deterioration, including cracking and rutting. This extensive project focuses on rehabilitating the pavement, widening the roadway, installing new drainage ditches and large crossing culverts as well as continuing Hamilton County’s ongoing roadway system improvements.

In addition to design services, RQAW | DCCM’s Survey team completed a Location Control Route Survey as well as right-of-way engineering services to acquire right-of-way from 24 parcels along this 2.4-mile road rehabilitation. RQAW | DCCM is currently managing these parcels through the land acquisition process and anticipates clearing all parcels by the 4th quarter of 2025, preparing them for construction.

Upon completion in Summer 2027, the 281st Street rehabilitation project will significantly enhance access, rideability, and drainage for the community. The improvements will accommodate larger trucks, farm equipment, and increased traffic flow along the roadway without impacting opposing traffic. This project is a step in Hamilton County’s ongoing efforts to improve its roadway systems, ensuring safer and more efficient travel for all residents.
